A wine box and love letter ceremony is a wonderful addition to your wedding ceremony! It's simple and oh so meaningful! You will need a box, like the one pictured here, a good bottle of wine (this can also be non-alcoholic of course) and two glasses. Each of you then writes a letter to your partner and seals it. The letter can describe what you love and appreciate about your partner, favorite memories and what you hope for as you think about your future together. During the ceremony after your ring exchange, you both place the letters in the box and close it. On a future anniversary of your choice (many choose the 1st or the 5th), you then sit down together, open the box, enjoy the wine and read the letters and celebrate your love story! You then replenish the wine and letters and decide on the next anniversary you will open it at. And, if your marriage should ever face hardship and you find that you are feeling uncertain about your love, you can sit down and open it then. It is quite a gift to give your marriage. If you are already married and have discovered this, it's never too late to start this wonderful ritual.
Another option is to add other types of momentos, creating a time capsule of your relationship. Photos, concert stubs and any other items that mean something to your unique relationship can be placed in the box too! If you are in the process of planning your wedding day, I have many ideas on how to enrich your wedding ceremony and I'd love to chat with you! I also offer premarital counseling and couple's coaching. Jen Paul of Life Passages Wedding Ceremony
